Performance

Performance has always been a part of my life. I've played at rock clubs, weddings, art openings, and many other places over the years, but what I currently love is sharing instrumental music with others, mostly my own compositions with a smattering of others mixed in. It's always about the personal experience for me so I now prefer the smaller, more intimate settings. Many of my pieces have personal stories behind them and in these settings I can engage with the audience with the stories of the creative process and stages of life. I also provide light backgound for various functions as well. If you're looking for music for a private concert or small event, you can contact me at matt@matthmusic.com.

"Musician, Matt Hanna, has performed on two occasions at my art gallery. He provided the perfect mix of soft, upbeat music as atmosphere for openings. As a professional artist who attends many art events, I appreciated that Matt’s music was not jazz (which seems to be the default at so many of these events) and also included some of his original compositions. Guests could chat without the need to yell and there were no awkward silences. Art lovers browsed the gallery while Matt played either the guitar or the keyboard. He was friendly and interacted with guests when they engaged him in conversation. I will hire him again and recommend Matt Hanna to anyone needing perfect background music for their arts event."

Here are a few examples of me performing more energetic solo piano music of mine at a small concert. You can also check out my composition page for more of my music.
